What’s in a name? …

… Well, everything!

My husband, Joel, and I were married in September which is often represented by a sapphire. They’ve always had a special place in my heart. In fact, I wore sapphires on our wedding day!

Since our wedding in 2009, we have welcomed four beautiful daughters to our family. Hence a square.  These four fiery little humans anchor us and simultaneously set our hearts on fire (sometimes our patience too… just keeping it real!).

Sapphire Square Events represents the importance of doing what you love for whom you love.

Meet Dani

Hello!  I’m Dani.  I am a mom, a wife and a planner to my core.  Truthfully, I have been since I was little.  I’m the youngest in my family and it turns out that all the years of plotting and scheming against my siblings were excellent preparation for a career in hospitality.  It was an early lesson in being properly prepared but flexible enough when the plan didn’t quite work out!   Couple that with growing up on a farm in central Illinois and you’ve got an excellent mix of spirited energy and a hardworking mentality that proves invaluable for my clients.

After beginning at the University of Illinois with a major in Forensic Science (if you know me, you know how bad of an idea this was…), a couple rough Chemistry and Biology courses caused me to reevaluate what a fulfilling career path might look like.  It was at this point that the hospitality industry and event management became my vision.  I graduated in 2008 from the University of Illinois with a degree in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism with an emphasis on Event Management.  Since then, I have taken every opportunity to see how events work and have a true love for all aspects of events.  My natural curiosity for how things work has proven invaluable and allows me to speak from experience when consulting on event logistics and advocating for you.

I started in the St. Louis hospitality industry 15 years ago with the Kemp Auto Museum in Chesterfield, MO and moved on to catering across the St. Louis Metro with Cuisine d’ Art Full-Service Catering.  When my husband deployed in 2011, the time was right for a change of pace, and I transitioned to a role in the Event Services Office at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE).  During my time at SIUE, I gained experience in multi-faceted events and conferences, audio-visual technology, and emergency management.  I also completed my master’s in business administration.

Stepping back into individualized event planning and client focused consulting has been a much-needed breath of fresh air.  And it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time to allow me the flexibility to be available for my family and pursue a career that sets my heart on fire.  Taking lessons and knowledge from all aspects of life, I can provide you with a wealth of experience that you can rely on when coordinating your next event.  However, at the end of the day, the logistics, designs, timelines, and tasks all take a back seat to the relationships built and the memories made.  I am anxiously waiting to consult with you on how to create your next momentous event.

Life is an exciting business and most exciting when it is lived for others.
